How do I know when the school is closed unexpectedly? 

In the event that a change in the schedule or unexpected weather results in the school's closing unexpectedly will be broadcast by e-blast, a robocall to all district families and staff, and a message will be posted on the district website. So it's important to alert the school secretary in your child's school if your phone number changes. Announcements will be also made on the following broadcast stations:

• AM radio station WIND (1010)
• TV stations:
• WNBC Channel 4
• WABC Channel 7
• WNYW Channel 5
• NJ News12
  
• CNN Channel 35 in Maplewood
• FIOS Channel 22 in Maplewood
• FIOS Channel19 in South Orange

How do I know when there is a delayed opening?

A robocall will alert all district families & staff to announce a delayed opening. In the event that a change in the schedule or unexpected weather calls for a delayed opening, all elementary schools will open two (2) hours late per times below: 

Buses will also run on a two (2) hour delay so your child should be at the bus stop two hours from their scheduled pickup.

What happens when there is an unscheduled dismissal?

A call will be made to all district families. Each child will be accommodated as needed.
