Due to the forecasted snowstorm, we are moving the Hot Chocolate Social to Sunday, Feb 1, from 3-5 pm. We still need volunteers, so please sign up if you’re able! Volunteer here.
Read-A-Thon Guide for Caretakers & Owls
The Marshall Read-a-thon returns Jan. 26 - Feb. 17 to foster the love of reading in our students of all reading and pre-reading levels and to raise funds for school programs that support students and teachers.
How the Read-A-Thon Works: Readers set goals, track minutes read and invite people to sponsor them through Readafun.com. All kinds of reading count: a student reading on their own or being read to, listening to an audiobook, reading sight words, etc.
Each student will automatically receive 30 minutes on school days to account for in-school reading time, logged by the PTA. Outside of school, students track their own reading minutes. We’ve sent home a flyer with personalized login info for Readafun.com, and you’ll get an email directly from Readafun with a link. *For families who would like to participate without signing into the platform, contact your teacher and ask for a reading log to fill out on paper. For students who need more books, start with your classroom teacher and also visit the Maplewood or South Orange libraries. For any questions, email fundraising@marshall-
How Sponsorship Works: With Readafun.com, it’s easy to invite family and friends to make a donation. We are encouraging each student to invite at least three people to support them in this event. We hope to raise $30,000 for the Marshall PTA to support programs during this school year.
Rewarding Hard Work: The PTA is committed to showing our Owls how proud we are of their hard work. Prizes will be awarded based on classroom achievements and individual successes to foster a community of support regardless of reading ability.
