Diversity Festival

Our annual Marshall & Jefferson Schools' Multicultural Festival celebrates the diversity in people, music, and arts. It will take place Friday, February 28th in  Marshall School's Cafetorium from 6:00 to 8:30 PM.

Come and see the multi-cultural richness of our community! Interested in sharing culture? Sign up here. You can participate by making a poster, wearing traditional clothing, doing a craft, reading a folktale, providing traditional food and drink or any way you prefer.

Can you spare an hour? We need volunteers! Sign up here.

There will be an array of fun and culture-related activities planned for the whole family, arts and crafts, musical acts, art and — of course — lots of delicious food representing the diversity of our school.

This year's Multicultural Festival will feature:

  • 6:00pm a showcase from the dancers at the Maria Priadka School of Dance from South Orange, NJ.
  • 6:30pm ALOHA e Ia Orana! Let's Hula! Nalani is an award-winning professional Polynesian dancer, specializing in Hula and Tahitian styles.

  • 7:00 pm Salsa dancers from Yenyere Dance School will bring their high-energy and dynamic performance to the Multicultural Festival. Yenyere is an award-winning dance school in Union City, NJ. Featured in “America’s Got Talent,” they take salsa dancing to a whole new level.

  • 7:30pm African Drumming from Yah’ Ya Kamate. Yahaya Kamate is a native of the Ivory Coast. As a former member of the National Ballet of the Ivory Coast, he came to the United States to honor his country back in 1994. He currently teaches at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
